We're seeking views on proposed changes to the statutory guidance ‘Keeping children safe in education’ 2020, with a view to making changes for September 2021.
The consultation will seek views on revisions to ‘Keeping children safe in education’, the statutory guidance that sets out what schools and colleges should do and the legal duties with which they must comply to keep children safe.
We are running events to discuss the proposed changes to the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). We are updating our guidance for DSLs to put a greater focus on improving the academic achievement of children who have experienced adversity and trauma, as part of their existing safeguarding duties.
We want to hear your views on what additional support would help DSLs to carry out this role. These events are for Designated Safeguarding Leads and school leaders.
Please note each event will cover the same themes and content.
If you wish to book a place on one of the events please email DSL.CONSULTATION@education.gov.uk and confirm the event you want to attend as well as your role and school/college.
