Approving the development of new Apprenticeship Standards August 2016

Closed 9 Sep 2016

Opened 26 Aug 2016

Overview

Apprenticeships are a key component of the growth agenda. The Government is keen that more high quality apprenticeships are created to meet the needs of employers and apprentices, and help drive up growth and productivity across the economy. This survey invites you to comment on proposals to develop new Apprenticeship Standards submitted this month by employer groups, before a decision is made on whether to approve them for further development.

How you can help

This short survey will take no more than ten minutes to complete. Your feedback will help ensure that any Standards taken forward for development  meet the training needs of relevant occupations, and that new apprenticeships are viable, high quality, and widely supported. In particular we are keen to avoid duplicating Standards that have already been published or are already in development.

The survey seeks your views on:

  • Whether you support the development of the proposed Apprenticeship Standards;
  • Whether you think the proposed Apprenticeship Standards would typically take at least 12 months of training to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for that occupation (required as part of our criteria);
  • Whether these Standards are similar to, or duplicate, existing Standards.

Please find a list of the proposals submitted this month below:

  • Clinical Dental Technician and Oral Health Practitioner
  • Construction Equipment Operative and Construction Equipment Advanced Operative
  • Digital and Technology Solution Specialist
  • Emergency Service Contact Handler
  • Facilities Management Director of Estates Degree Apprenticeship
  • Facilities Manager
  • Maritime Electrical Mechanical Fitter
  • Network Cable Installer
  • Operational Firefighter
  • Providing Security Services
  • Specialist Rescue Operative
  • Sport Analysis

A copy of the proposal will download when you select the one you want to comment on in question 4. If you would like to comment on more than one proposal you will be prompted to do so once you have finished responding to the first. If you are interested in finding out more information about who is involved in the development of any proposal, including any professional body involvement, the contact details for the named employer group, if nominated, can be found in the proposal itself. Alternatively you can contact us using the details provided above.

What happens next

Your feedback will be considered as part of the assessment process for new apprenticeship Standards and help inform the final approval decision. A list of which Standards have been approved will be available on gov.uk once confirmed.

A new survey will be open for two weeks from the last Friday of every month, inviting feedback on all draft Standards submitted that month.
